eLearning Courses in Prisons

In 2026 PREPARE published its first set of courses on tablets in prisons throughout the United States. They are:

  • Parole and Second Look Success Starts Today
  • Building your Parole or Second Look Packet
  • Building your Individualized Reentry Plan

Those courses have reached many thousands of people in prisons throughout the United States. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“This is the absolute best class on Edovo. Keep giving and we’ll keep learning. You give us hopes and dreams.”

“It was an excellent experience of growth for me to review your curriculum of parole planning. I am giving you 10 stars, not 5.”

“Wonderfully done. You alls ability to both identify and articulate the questions/concerns of those of us who may have served lengthier incarcerations is a true testament to your wisdom of the subject matter.”

eLearning Courses Outside Prisons

In 2026 PREPARE made a first course on parole and reentry preparation available to people outside of prisons. It is:

  • Parole and Second Look Success Starts Today

That course replicates the course of the same name which is available to incarcerated individuals. This means that family members, attorneys and other supporters can see the same content which the people they are helping are seeing. This is important because a person getting out of prison and staying out of prison is necessarily a collaborative effort. Building a parole packet and a reentry plan are things which ideally people will have supporters helping them with. We therefore consider our mission to involve educating not just those who are behind bars, but also those on the outside.

Materials for Download

One of the things that motivated the founders of PREPARE to develop the organization was the fact that, historically, there had been no organization in Maryland with the goal of providing guidance to people on how to engage with the parole system. This meant that most people were going to their parole hearings with no understanding of the system, no sense of what a good case for parole would look like, and no idea of how to best present their case. We therefore set about putting pen to paper.

This was before we created our eLearning courses which replicate and build on information in our materials. It is nevertheless still important to have the information available in as many different formats as possible to make sure it reaches as many people as possible. Notwithstanding increasing computer access in prisons, we believe access to written materials will always be important.

  • We have made our materials available in hard copy in Maryland prisons.
  • We have made our materials available as PDFs on the Maryland prison tablets.
  • We have made our materials available as free downloads right here on our website.
  • Some of our materials we have made available in Spanish. Material de libertad condicional
  • Some of our materials we have made available in Arabic. مادة الإفراج المشروط

Outreach and Collaboration

PREPARE team members are experts in their areas. And, through our direct services we have detailed, real time understanding of how people are experiencing the parole and reentry systems at the grassroots level.

We are always happy to share knowledge and expertise with others, be they decision makers, non-profits, colleges or community organizers. Ways in which we have done this in the past are listed below. If you would like to consult with us about parole or reentry please contact us at info@prepare-parole.org

  • PREPARE team members testify in the Maryland General Assembly about legislation relating to parole and reentry.
  • PREPARE team members sit on committees in the criminal justice space to gather and share information, develop solutions and build collaborative relationships.
